Bander Family Fund for JHU Undergraduate Students

The Bander Family Fund award encourages students to think creatively in defining work that can only be done outside of the classroom. Each year, the Bander Fund awards $4,000 to one or two successful undergraduate students in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (KSAS) who wish to pursue such an independent project over the summer. The work may be independent research, a creative venture, or an internship directly related to a field of study.

Applications are typically accepted in the spring semester each year.

KSAS freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible to apply. Seniors are not eligible for this award.

Award Funds

Funds may be used to defray costs associated with the project, such as expendable supplies, special equipment, project-related travel, and other miscellaneous expenses. A living stipend may be allowed if the applicant can demonstrate how this will directly facilitate his or her ability to carry out the project.
