Panera Bread: Sustainability Coordinator

Panera Bread has an opportunity in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) group, reporting to the Senior Manager of CSR. The Coordinator will support a wide range of CSR projects including, but not limited to environmental efficiency, supply chain, animal welfare and philanthropy programs. The right candidate should possess excellent analytical, quantitative and communication skills and should be detail oriented, proactive, creative, and passionate about creating positive social and environmental change and an eager learner.

Accountabilities:

  • Environmental Efficiency: Help identify, build the business case for and implement environmental efficiency projects related to energy, water, waste and packaging reduction in our operations
  • Supply Chain: Support sustainable supply chain initiatives and public reporting related to animal welfare, palm oil and other priorities as needed
  • Reporting: Assist with development of annual greenhouse gas inventory, annual progress updates, biennial Corporate Responsibility Report and other stakeholder communications
  • Philanthropy: Support Day-End Dough-Nation program, as needed
  • Travel: Less than 5% and as needed and determined by project requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree required with an emphasis in sustainability or environmental science a plus
  • High proficiency with data manipulation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven organizational skills including effective multitasking and time-management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Takes personal responsibility for continuous learning of new knowledge, skills, business acumen and experiences
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment
