Civic Works AmeriCorps Members

Civic Works is a nonprofit orrganization with a vibrant AmeriCorps program that aims to strengthen Baltimore’s communities through education, skills development, and community service. 

Civic Works AmeriCorps members spend one year or one summer serving Baltimore’s communities. In return, they receive a stipend, training, and an education award that can be used for college, trade school, or to repay qualified student loans.

AmeriCorps members tutor students, grow food, create community gardens, repair homes, provide energy education, and more. They represent a diverse range of ages and backgrounds.


In order to be a Civic Works AmeriCorps member, you must be:

  • At least 17 years old;
  • A U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien; and
  • Able to pass a drug test and sex offender registry check

Positions vary from year to year. Past positions have included:

  • Real Food Farm - Farm Educator
  • Baltimore Orchard Project - Orchard Organizer
  • Energy Outreach Coordinator
